Heena Patel, Rasoi
Saturday, February 18, 2017, 10:30 am - 11:15 am
Stop by the CUESA Classroom for a cooking demo featuring the seasonal bounty of the Ferry Plaza Farmers Market and highlighting one of our market sellers.
A participant in La Cocina’s food business incubator program, Heena Patel creates Western Indian dishes in honor of Gujarati traditions, such as black masoor dal, saag paneer, and jeera rice, with a focus on Bay Area ingredients for her business, Rasoi. Heena’s face is familiar to the lunchtime crowd at the Tuesday Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, where she started serving Western Indian fare in January of 2016. On Saturdays, she’s popping up under a different banner—Heena’s Chaat Corner—with a special menu that is, according to Heena, “influenced by my memories associated with Mumbai street food, and showcasing our farmers market fresh produce.” Rasoi stays true to being healthy and nutritious because they believe that people who need food fast still deserve the best appetizing homemade food possible.
All demos take place in the CUESA Classroom (under the white tents in front of the Ferry Building) and are free to the public, with recipes and samples for all.
