Prospective Sellers

Thank you for your interest in being a seller at Foodwise farmers markets. Foodwise’s policy is to give preference to producers and vendors whose practices help support and cultivate a sustainable food system. For producers, all products must be grown in California, and we give preference to those who farm organically. For vendors, we prefer those who use organic, regionally grown produce, and who have at least two years’ experience in the restaurant/prepared food business. All prepared food is subject to a blind tasting to assure product quality and appeal. We do not accept unsolicited samples.

Find out more about our criteria and process for prospective sellers before applying:

When applying, be sure to indicate which market(s) you are interested in:

  • Ferry Plaza Farmers Market, San Francisco: Saturday 8 am-2 pm, Tuesday 10 am-2 pm, Thursday 10 am-2 pm, year round
  • Mission Community Market, San Francisco: Thursday, 3-7 pm, March through November

To apply to become a vendor, please email us at applications@foodwise.org with the subject line “Prospective Seller.” We will send you a link to submit your online application.

We have limited spaces at our markets to offer new permanent sellers throughout the year, but we also host a number of pop-up sellers each year from November to April. Our team is always excited to hear about new farms and businesses who are supporting Foodwise’s mission to grow thriving communities through the power and joy of local food.

If you are an arts and crafts vendor, please contact the San Francisco Art’s Commission’s Art Vendor Program. In general, we are not currently accepting applications for the following items:

  • Carnival-like foods, such as cotton candy, candy apples, candy, kettle corn, etc.
  • Nationally distributed packaged foods
  • Energy drinks
  • Pet foods
  • Decorative crafts
  • Apparel and jewelry
  • Books and other printed material
  • Souvenirs, gift items, and greeting cards
  • Cosmetics and personal care items
  • Home and garden knickknacks
  • Wine, spirits, and beer

While we would love to chat with all prospective vendors individually, the high volume of applications we receive and our regular workload does not always allow for this. Please be sure to complete the application thoroughly and include a proposed growing calendar or menu with your submission. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

If you have questions about the application process, please email us at applications@foodwise.org. Thank you for your interest in the Foodwise farmers markets and for taking the time to introduce us to your business.
