Trail Mix: A Tour of Fruit and Nut Orchards

On October 6, 2013, a CUESA tour group visited Capay Canyon Ranch and K&J Orchards to get an up-close look at fruit and nut orchards during the fall harvest. At Capay Canyon Ranch in Esparto, we met the Barth family, strolled through their grape vineyards and almond orchards, and toured their nut processing facility. And at K&J Orchards in Winters, Aomboon Deasy showed us around her family’s diverse farm, where walnuts, persimmons, pomegranates, and many other fruits are grown year-round.
