Raila Meets Kenyan Students In Bangalore, Celebrates Oginga’s Legacy

ODM leader Raila Odinga is on a one week tour of India accompanied by his wife, Ida Odinga.

On Saturday the former Prime Minister visited Bangalore State where he celebrated the enduring legacy of one of Kenya’s founding fathers, Jaramogi Oginga Odinga.

“I met Kenyan students in Bangalore and reflected on Mzee Jaramogi’s days in the city decades ago. I encouraged them to work hard and remain focused,” Raila said on Twitter.

Also accompanying the NASA leader is Kisumu Deputy Governor Ochieng Owili.

On Tuesday Odinga met the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi where they spoke about ‘increased Indian investment in Kenya both in Industry and particularly in the health sector.’

The two also discussed the Maritime agreement whose aim is to boost transportation, trade and activity in Lake Victoria to see Kenya trade better with its neighbours via the lake.

During the week long trip, he has also met Gamini Perera, an MP and Cabinet Minister in the government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka.

He has also attended a wedding reception in Bangalore where he met Senator Tan Sri Dato, President of the upper house in Malaysia’s Parliament, and Bookanakere Yeddurappa, who is former Chief Minister of India’s state of Karnataka.
